About Us

The WA Screen Awards is the state’s premier film and television event, celebrating the innovation and achievements of Western Australian filmmakers, from students through to established industry professionals.

The Awards aim to:

  • Promote the achievements of the WA Screen Industry
  • Encourage early career filmmakers
  • Connect filmmakers with an audience; and
  • Provide networking opportunities for members of the filmmaking community.

Bridging the gap

Our judging panels are manned by industry practitioners who have significant experience working on professional productions. Many nominees have received offers of work or professional guidance following the judging of the awards.

We present awards in 22 categories. The winners are chosen from over a hundred submissions each year. Early career and open categories are shortlisted to approximately five nominees that are promoted through screenings, press releases and on the WA Screen Awards website.
