23rd WA Screen Awards are Launched

24th September 2009

The 23rd WA Screen Awards is launched with a fabulous new look and website along with a streamlined entry process.

The WA Screen Awards celebrate innovation and achievement in West Australian film, promoting the achievements of the WA Screen Industry and encouraging early career filmmakers. The Awards bring early career filmmakers into contact with industry representatives.

In 2010, the WA Screen Awards have partnered with premiere festival listing site Without A Box to make it quicker and easier for filmmakers to enter.

Nominations and film submissions for the 23rd WA Screen Awards close Tuesday 15 December 2009 with an extended deadline allowing late submission till Tuesday 5 January 2010.

Shortlisted nominees for the Early Career and Open Category Awards will be annouced on Thursday 28 January 2010. The shortlisted films are screened in February at the Bohemia Outdoor Cinema where members of the public and film community will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The WA Screen Awards night of nights is Saturday 6 March at the Perth Concert Hall.

The WA Screen Awards are coordinated by the Film & Television Institute WA. The 23rd Awards are proudly supported by ScreenWest, Lotterywest, Hog’s Breath Cafe, Mad Fish Wines, Matilda Bay, Central TAFE, Curtin University, Community Newspapers, RTRFM 92.1, Frog Management and Westone.
